Our management team consists of leaders in the area of supply chain security.

Alvaro Alpizar, Director

Mr. Cuza is the International President of the World BASC Organization, whose members developed in 1996, in cooperation with U.S. Customs, the first business-customs partnership focusing on supply chain security. Mr. Cuza helped create the present organizational structure of the World BASC Organization (WBO) in 2002 and continued to advise the WBO as it worked with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the World Customs Organization and the international business community to expand the BASC program and gain recognition for its supply chain security standards.

 

 

Fermin Cuza, Director

Mr. Cuza is the International President of the World BASC Organization, whose members developed in 1996, in cooperation with U.S. Customs, the first business-customs partnership focusing on supply chain security. Mr. Cuza helped create the present organizational structure of the World BASC Organization (WBO) in 2002 and continued to advise the WBO as it worked with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the World Customs Organization and the international business community to expand the BASC program and gain recognition for its supply chain security standards.

 Mr. Cuza’s career began with the U.S. Customs Service, where he worked 15 years as a Customs  inspector, Internal Affairs auditor, and Director, Inspection and Control, in San Diego. In that position, he managed all cargo and passenger personnel in the four ports of entry on the California-Mexico border. 

 Mr. Cuza served as Executive-in-Residence at the College of Business and Economics, California State University, Los Angeles, where he taught international trade courses and was liaison to campus student organizations. 

 In 1996, while managing the worldwide customs operations at Mattel, Inc., Mr. Cuza developed and implemented a comprehensive anti-smuggling security program at the company’s Tijuana plant that later served as an industry model and was incorporated by the U.S. Customs Service into BASC, the “Business Alliance for Secure Commerce”.

 Mr. Cuza has served on numerous government advisory committees, including two terms as an original member of the U.S. Treasury’s Advisory Committee on Customs Operations (COAC).  He is a recipient of the Stanley A. Olafson Award from the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce for distinguished service to the international trade community and named Trade Executive of the Year by the Los Angeles Business Journal. He served as Chairman of the Customs and Trade Commission at the International Chamber of Commerce, based in Paris; Chairman of the Foreign Trade Association of Southern California; Director of the American Association of Exporters and Importers; and Trustee of the U.S. Council for International Business. 

 He has been active in civic organizations, serving on the Board of the Educational Foundation at California State University, Los Angeles, and Director of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. Cuza was the 1995 School of Business alumnus of the year and gave the commencement address to the class of 1996 at his alma mater, California State University.

Keith Stites, Managing Director
